On his hundredth day in power, New York Mayor Eric Adams tests positive for COVID-19
On his 100th day in service, New York City Mayor Eric Adams tested positive for COVID-19. The mayor's itinerary for the day has been cancelled, according to media reports, and he is isolating himself.

The mayor has no further indications at this moment, but he is already isolating himself and has cancelled all public presentations for the remaining week. He will also begin taking antiviral drugs that are available for free to New York City citizens, and he encourages all New Yorkers who are qualified to do so.
He will still serve New Yorkers by being active remotely while he is in quarantine. Fortunately, he is vaccinated and boosted so symptoms are mild, Adams tweeted Sunday evening.
Adams sounded gruff and choked at times when speaking on WBLS Radio on Sunday morning.
Adams' sickness comes after a flurry of engagements, including an opening day at Yankee Stadium on Friday, the National Action Network gathering in Times Square on Wednesday, and the yearly Gridiron Dinner in Washington on Saturday.
72 persons who attended the event, along with Attorney General Merrick Garland and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, have subsequently tested positive, according to the president of the charitable media group. Attendees were expected to display proof of vaccination, but not a clean COVID test or masks.
Although the number of cases and hospitalizations isn't as great as the winter spike, four Broadway plays have had to cancel concerts in the previous week owing to positive cases among cast members.
On Sunday, theatregoers hailed the fact that Broadway musicals still require masks and evidence of immunisation. Other indoor locations, such as gyms, movie theatres, and restaurants, were exempted from the mask and vaccine restrictions in March.
For the time being, the city's health commissioner advises wearing a face mask inside all public indoor events.
