She stated in a recently conducted interview that Shia's 'process' of preparation made her make the call. The scandal around Shia intensified during the film preparation.

In an interview with Variety, Olivia Wilde said that Shia's process was not good for the environment she demands in her productions. His process is somewhat combative.

Wilde believes it is not conducive to excellent performances. She continued saying she believes in creating a trusting and safe environment as it helps people bring out their best. It was her job to protect the cast, and she owed it to them as a producer.

Variety attributed Shia's departure to schedule issues soon after he was fired. A lawsuit was filed against LaBeouf by FKA Twigs, claiming that he allegedly abused Olivia Wilde emotionally, mentally, and physically when they were dating.
