The Oklahoma City Thunder's season this year doesn't look like to be a massively successful one, and the absence of the 7-foot 1-inch man may not trouble that much. The duration of the absence is also unknown, and if Holmgren misses the whole season, he will have much time to familiarise himself, recover, travel and understand the ins and outs of the NBA. The season is all but wasted in terms of gaming experience. However, he would learn much and will be prepared for the next season.

It would be a new experience for Holmgren to sit on the sidelines and watch an NBA match. For instance, rookies talk about how NBA's speed is much quicker than college games. Holmgren would be making notes on the sidelines and thinking about how he can improve himself and what he needs to do to perform well.

He could be better prepared with all the mental notes and observations he makes right now. Thunder fans would be hoping to see him in action soon.

Meanwhile, the remaining players on the Thunder roster have to improve their game and take advantage of the extra minutes that are now available. Thunder will likely finish in the bottom half of the Western Conference. Initially predicted that this is where the Thunder would end up on the table. It means that the timing of the injury to Holmgren won't make much of a difference, even though we wish him a speedy recovery.
