Ohio Highway Horror: 3 killed, 15 injured after semitrailer crashes into bus carrying students

In a heartbreaking incident along Interstate 70 West in Licking County, Ohio, a school charter bus, carrying students, fell victim to a catastrophic collision. Struck from behind by a massive semi-truck, the bus became a scene of tragedy, claiming three lives and leaving 15 others wounded. Sean Grady, Director of the Licking County Emergency Management Agency, confirmed the devastating toll.

The calamity unfolded shortly before 9 a.m. near the Smoke Road underpass, turning the morning commute into a nightmare for 57 individuals from an eastern Ohio school. The collision, shrouded in uncertainty about its cause, sparked a fierce blaze, capturing the attention of emergency responders. Disturbing images surfaced, revealing the charred remains of the bus's rear.

A swift response from paramedics, firefighters, and police from Licking County and eastern Franklin County ensued. Five injured individuals were swiftly transported to medical facilities, including Grant Medical Center, Mount Carmel East, and Nationwide Children's Hospital. The gravity of their injuries hangs in uncertainty.


The bus involved is believed to belong to Pioneer Trails, a family-owned bus business in Millersburg, Holmes County. When pressed for confirmation, a company representative remained tight-lipped about the bus's role in the crash.
