Takeoff’s Death

American rapper, Kirsnick Khari Ball who was professionally known as Takeoff was shot fatally at the age of 28 on November 1 2022. His memorial was held at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena and was open to the general public. His family, fans and many celebrities came together to honor his life. Entry was free for the public. The memorial was described as a celebration of Takeoff’s life.

American rappers, Offset and Quavo, his bandmates and relatives, made speeches at the memorial. Fans were requested not to use mobiles, but video clips of the speeches have been seen online. Quavo made a speech remembering his nephew Takeoff. Offset, his cousin also praised him and his flow. Drake, who has toured with the Migos in the past, spoke about his late friend.

Musical Performances

The celebration of Takeoff’s life included musical performances by Justin Bieber, Byron Cage, Yolanda Adams and Chloe Bailey. Andre Dickens, the mayor of Atlanta, was present at the memorial. He awarded Takeoff’s family the Phoenix award, which is the highest honour that the city presents to a citizen.

Many other celebrities also attended the memorial. Some of them were Cardi B, Russell Simmons, Gucci Mane, YG, City Girls, Lil Yachty, Teyana Taylor, Cee-Lo Green, Rich the Kid, Murda Beatz, and Mustard.

The organisers requested the mourners to donate to the ‘Rocket Foundation’ instead of bringing flowers. This is a nonprofit organization founded in Takeoff’s honour to prevent gun violence.
