The all-new stylish and sporty hi-tech Oakley Vanguard smart glasses, which was unveiled by Meta on Wednesday, has been specifically designed for athletes, mainly for runners, cyclists and fitness freaks, who want to live as well as document even the minutest details of their training. The price seems fairly reasonable given the features it offers, providing professional athletes with an entirely new perspective on their training process.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

The Oakley Vanguards are priced at $499 and are now available for pre-order through both Meta’s and Oakley’s official websites. The smart glasses will be offered in four color variants: Black with Prizmtm 24K, White with Prizmtm Black, Black with Prizmtm Road, and White with Prizmtm Sapphire, with sales beginning on October 21. The lenses are replaceable and priced at $85 each. At launch, the Vanguards will be released in the US, UK, Canada, and Europe.

SPECIFICATIONS AND FEATURES

The Oakley Meta Vanguard smart glasses introduce a new design with a single unified front lens, replacing the dual-camera setup found on earlier Meta smart glasses and the Oakley Meta HSTN, which was unveiled three months back. They are equipped with a 12-megapixel camera featuring a 122-degree wide-angle lens and can record video at up to 3K resolution.

The glasses deliver clear audio even in winds up to 30mph and are built with IP67-rated resistance to sweat, dust, and water. A programmable button allows users to launch a custom AI prompt via the Meta AI app, while all controls are positioned underneath the frame so athletes can comfortably wear helmets during use.

Battery life lasts up to nine hours, with around six hours of continuous music playback. The included charging case extends usage by an additional 36 hours and supports fast charging, powering the glasses to 50% in just 20 minutes.

The device syncs with fitness platforms like Garmin and Strava, providing athletes with real-time training data as well as detailed post-workout summaries. In addition, users can request real-time stats such as heart rate and pace while running, cycling, or engaging in other activities.
