Midtown Manhattan Office Shooting Leaves Four Dead, Including Aland Etienne
Etienne was working as a security guard at 345 Park Avenue when a gunman, later identified as Shane Tamura, a 27-year-old, opened fire inside the building, according to the Hindustan Times. Etienne, along with Julia Hyman, Wesley Lepatner, and Didarul Islam, was killed before Tamura ended up taking his own life, as per the report.The union he was part of, 32BJ SEIU, described Etienne as someone who took his responsibilities with the utmost seriousness, as per The Hindustan Times report.
President of 32BJ SEIU, Manny Pastreich said that, “We extend our deep condolences to the families and friends who lost loved ones tonight, including that of our own 32BJ SEIU security member Aland Etienne, a dedicated security officer who took his job duties extremely seriously,” as quoted by The Hindustan Times report

Union Steps In to Support Workers After Deadly NYC Office Shooting
According to the union, Etienne’s coworkers, other security staff, and commercial cleaners, who are part of the union, were also on duty at the time of the shooting, as per the report. The union is now working with building management and the NYPD to support the investigation and is offering counselling to workers who witnessed the traumatic events, according to the report.The 32BJ SEIU president said that, “We have been in touch with Aland Etienne’s family, and are working with building management and the NYPD to support their investigation. We are ensuring our members in the building receive the free union counseling and support services they deserve and need to manage this unspeakable loss," as quoted in The Hindustan Times report.

Gunman Shane Tamura May Have Mistaken His Target Floor
Officials have said that Tamura may have mistakenly taken the wrong elevators in an attempt to reach the National Football League's office, located elsewhere in the building, as per the report.
