Novavax shares skyrocketed as FDA recommends the Vaccine for Covid19 in the U.S

Maryland based Novavax Inc has brought up the protein-based covid 19 vaccine, which has already received the green light in the EU, UK, Australia and Canada. but due to some cases of heart inflammation the US had not given its authorisation. But after the FDA meeting on Tuesday, it has received the recommendation for adults. The Novavax shots have already got the authorisation from India and Thailand for adults. With this authorisation, the shares of Novavax Inc were up by 19% at $56.59

So, the adults who haven't had the shots till now might get the 4th option as the Novavax. Officials have high hopes that people who were hesitant to mRNA technology-based vaccines like Pezifer and Moderna might get the better option as lab-grown protein-based shots. The Novavax is called a protein subunit vaccine and the shots are available in two doses.

Novavax shots do not require cold storage, so they might prove to be the better option. The shots are made with the decade-old traditional vaccine employing technology to fight diseases. To heighten the response of the vaccine Novavax Inc has also added the compound of soapbark tree to the vaccine.


For future development, the company is targeting to have authorisation for adolescents and adults both. They are also planning to get recommendations for booster shots for which they have run the trial and it has shown that the booster might result in a large increase of antibodies.
