Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, reportedly made a series of unprecedented demands to appear on the cover of Vogue's September edition back in 2022, which led to tensions with British Vogue editor Edward Enninful and the US Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

Markle sought full creative control over the shoot, including the selection of photographer and writer, final edits, photos, and cover lines. She also requested a simultaneous appearance on both the UK and US editions of Vogue, a privilege insiders claim is unparalleled, stating, "Nobody gets that. Not even Beyoncé".

Enninful had already committed the UK cover to supermodel Linda Evangelista, and Wintour had Serena Williams slated for the US edition.

Despite Markle's personal appeal via Zoom, Wintour declined to alter the planned cover. The fallout reportedly led to a rift between Markle and Enninful, ending their previously cordial relationship.

This incident coincides with a significant decline in Markle's popularity in the UK. A recent YouGov poll indicates that only 20 percent of Britons have a positive view of her, marking the lowest approval rating since tracking began in 2017. The same poll shows that 65 percent hold a negative opinion, reflecting a sharp drop from her earlier favorability.
