The Nobel Prize in Physics for 2022 has been awarded to John F. Clauser of J.F. Clauser & Association, California, USA, Alain Aspect of Université Paris-Saclay and École Polytechnique, Palaiseau, France, and Anton Zeilinger of the University of Vienna, Austria for their work in quantum information science.

Scientists often study problems far removed from everyday concerns - tiny particles and the vast mysteries of space and time - but their work lays the groundwork for practical applications across a broad spectrum of disciplines. There will be ten million Swedish kronor (appx. $900,000) awarded as part of this year's Nobel Prizes, established by Swedish inventor and prize founder Alfred Nobel who passed away in 1895.
