A massive wave of nationwide protests is set to unfold this Flag Day, June 14, with organizers declaring it the largest anti-Trump mobilization since US presideng Donald Trump took office, as per a report. Who’s Behind the “No Kings” Protest?

The grassroots nonprofit Indivisible called it the "NO KINGS Nationwide Day of Defiance on Flag Day," and revealed that "a coalition of pro-democracy partner organizations" was behind the planned nationwide demonstrations, as per Newsweek. The partner organizations also include grassroots groups like 50501 (50 protests, 50 states, one movement) civil rights organisations like the American Civil Liberties Union, and many labor and environmental groups, as per Rolling Stone report.

How Big Will the Protests Be?

The No Kings protest is expected to surpass the number of people who attended the April 5 “Hands Off” protests, where 3 million protesters gathered to oppose the Trump government and the actions of the Department of Government Efficiency, Newsweek reported.

Co-founder of Indivisible, Ezra Levin, shared that there are 1,800 planned No Kings events, which is 500 more than the total for April's protest, as per a Rolling Stone report.

The planned protests would take place across the United States, from Nome, Alaska, to San Juan, Puerto Rico, according to the report. Levin said, “I can guarantee you there will be millions of people out on No Kings day,” quoted Rolling Stone.

Donald Trump's Threat

However, Trump has threatened the demonstrators who had been planning to show up at his military procession, by saying, “If any protester wants to come out, they will be met with very big force,” quoted Rolling Stone.

What Will Protesters Do?

Following the warning, protest organisers have now specifically decided not to target the Trump parade route and have said that there is no event for the No Kings planned in D.C., as per the report.

No Kings website says that, "On June 14—Flag Day—President Trump wants tanks in the street and a made-for-TV display of dominance for his birthday. A spectacle meant to look like strength. But real power isn't staged in Washington. It rises up everywhere else," quoted Newsweek.

The organisation also mentioned that, "No Kings is a nationwide day of defiance. From city blocks to small towns, from courthouse steps to community parks, we're taking action to reject authoritarianism—and show the world what democracy really looks like. We're not gathering to feed his ego. We're building a movement that leaves him behind," as quoted in the report.
