No fences, open grounds, dorm life; this is where Epstein’s ex-girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, is currently serving her 20-year sentence
Ghislaine Maxwell, convicted for her involvement in Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking crimes, has been moved from a low-security prison in Florida to a minimum-security facility in Texas. This transfer, occurring shortly after Maxwell's meeting wi...

The Bryan prison camp in Texas is a minimum security institution, the lowest of five security levels in the US federal prison system.
The US Bureau of Prisons has not publicly stated the reason for the transfer.
Maxwell, a former socialite and longtime associate of Jeffrey Epstein, was convicted in 2021 and sentenced to 20 years. She was charged with recruiting and grooming underage girls to be sexually exploited by Epstein, a disgraced financier with ties to elite circles in US politics and business.
She has now joined a handful of other high-profile inmates at FPC Bryan, including Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes and reality television star Jen Shah.
Timing raises eyebrows
Although the BOP regularly transfers inmates for various administrative or security reasons, Maxwell’s move has come under intense scrutiny due to its timing.
Just days before the transfer, Maxwell reportedly participated in a closed-door meeting with Deputy US Attorney General Todd Blanche, who is also known for having previously represented President Donald Trump.
While officials have not confirmed any connection between this meeting and her prison reassignment, the circumstances have sparked speculation and backlash, especially from victims of the Epstein-Maxwell abuse ring.
In an interview on Friday night reported by Al Jazeera, Trump said that nobody had asked him to grant clemency to Maxwell, but he “had a right to do it”.
What life looks like at FPC Bryan
FPC Bryan, where Maxwell now resides, is one of the lowest-security prisons in the federal system. Such camps typically house non-violent offenders and are often viewed as less restrictive compared to traditional facilities.
They feature dormitory-style housing, minimal fencing (or none at all), and allow for greater movement within the grounds. Unlike higher-security prisons, inmates at FPC Bryan may access more recreational options and educational programs.
The contrast to FCI Tallahassee, where Maxwell previously served time, is significant. While still a low-security facility, Tallahassee has higher staff-to-inmate ratios, double-fenced perimeters, and stricter routines.
Critics argue that transferring Maxwell to FPC Bryan, despite her conviction for aiding one of the most notorious sex abuse operations in recent history, diminishes the gravity of her crimes.
