Nintendo Direct March 2025: Metroid Prime 4, Pokémon Legends Z-A, and more unveiled in latest showcase

Nintendo’s March 2025 Direct has officially wrapped up! Announced just a day prior in a social media post, the presentation went live today, March 27. Lasting just over 37 minutes—slightly shorter than usual 40-minute format—the Nintendo March 2025 Direct featured plenty of exciting reveals.

As per the reports, Direct delivered a host of exciting game announcements and even a new mobile application. However, as earlier stated, the company did not mention anything about Nintendo Switch 2. The hardware details, the reports stated, will be saved for dedicated presentation on April 2. Fans will have to wait longer for the next-gen news.

Five major announcements

Nintendo in their March 2025 Direct announced new trailers for existing titles and the new additions that will be available soon. Here are the five major games to look out for:

1. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond – New Trailer Showcases Samus’ Abilities

After years of waiting, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond received a new trailer which revealed that Samus will be getting new psychic abilities. The release window for the new additions is presently set in 2025; however, Nintendo is yet to announce a specific date.

1. Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Fresh Footage Revealed

Nintendo, during their March 2025 Direct, dropped a new trailer for the upcoming game Pokémon Legends: Z-A. This showed off more Pokémon and some new gameplay modes. The game set in Lumiose City is expected to drop in late 2025.

1. Dragon Quest I & II HD Remake – Classic RPGs Return

Square Enix shared a new trailer for the HD remake of Dragon Quest I & II. The classic RPGs are coming to the Switch with better graphics and updated gameplay. It is scheduled for release later in 2025.

Finally, Nintendo announced Rhythm Heaven Groove, the next instalment in the popular rhythm series, which is also set to launch in 2026.

Apart from the above noted games, Nintendo has released a few others including Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar, Witchbrook, and a fresh Marvel game, Marvel Cosmic Invasion. Included among the remasters they revealed is Raidou Kuzunoha vs. the Soulless Army Remaster, which hit June 19, 2025, and Patapon 1+2 Replay, which arrives on July 11, 2025. Saga Frontier 2 will be remastered for RPG fans as well into an updated graphical current and new material.

New and original titles, including Shadow Labyrinth, a rogue-like inspired by PAC-MAN is launching on July 18, and Disney Villains: Cursed Café, a villainous visual novel available now, were also announced by Nintendo. Set for July 25, a spin-off of AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES, No Sleep for Kaname Date will appeal to fans of detective books.

Two more interesting titles are the hand-drawn adventure platformer The Eternal Life of Goldman, the classic arcade collection Gradius Origins, and the unusual new Tamagotchi Plaza, a shop simulator set for release on June 27. Rhythm Heaven Groove, a fresh installment of the well-liked rhythm series, is scheduled for release in 2026.

Apart from game releases, Nintendo introduced Virtual Game Card System for more effective digital game handling to be launched in April 2025 as well as the Nintendo Today App, a mobile platform for news and updates published later today.
