Nikki Haley calls host Sunny Hostin 'racist'. Here is why

The View co-host Sunny Hostin accused former Trump official Nikki Haley of seeking to conceal her ancestry by shortening her name from Nimrata Nikki Randhawa (Haley is her marital name). Haley responded by labeling Hostin a "racist" and pointing out that Hostin had altered her name from its original form.

Haley hit back on Twitter, saying it was racist of Sunny to judge her based on her name and the moniker "Nikki" appears even on her birth certificate.

The remark may have been less racist than hypocritical, but Haley made a valid point. She is responsible for determining whether she shortened Nimrata Nikki to "Nikki" to appeal to the conservative public. Women of color do this frequently. It helps them to fit society's standards and conceal their race on paper.
