NewJeans: Kpop band to make debut at US award show with BBMAs

NewJeans, the K-pop girl group, is set to make their debut performance at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), which is just 11 days away. This exciting announcement makes them the third group to be revealed as performers at this event, following Peso Pluma and Bebe Rexha & David Guetta.

The BBMAs will be aired on Sunday, November 19. It will start at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

NewJeans has five members: Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein. As their debut in US award shows, you can expect their famous hits such as "Super Shy" and "OMG" on the stage.

The group has been nominated in five categories at the BBMAs, placing them in a tie with Eslabon Armado for the most nominations by a group. Their nominations include "Top Global K-pop Artist," "Top Billboard Global (excluding U.S.) Artist," "Top K-pop Album" for 'Get Up,' and "Top Global K-pop Song" for both "Ditto" and "OMG."

This year's BBMAs will see Taylor Swift as the top finalist with an impressive 20 nominations. Morgan Wallen and SZA closely follow with 17 nominations each. The Weeknd secures 16 nominations, while artists like Drake, Zach Bryan, Luke Combs, 21 Savage, Metro Boomin, Miley Cyrus, Beyoncé, Rema, Bad Bunny, Peso Pluma, Ariana Grande, David Guetta, Eslabon Armado, Karol G, NewJeans, and Selena Gomez have each earned five nominations.

The 2023 Billboard Music Awards Presented by Marriott Bonvoy will acknowledge the hottest names in music based on year-end performance metrics on the Billboard charts. This year's show, produced by dick clark productions, promises a fresh awards show concept that blends music and exclusive content. Performances and award celebrations will take place in various global locations, during sold-out tours, and in custom venues.
