It is confirmed that the title of the upcoming "Mission Impossible" movie is "Dead Reckoning Part One."
The makers of the show disclosed the full title of Tom Cruise's next "Mission Impossible" at a panel discussion today in Las Vegas during CinemaCon. A short trailer for the movie showed horse chases, railway clashes, and even Ethan Hunt riding a motorcycle off a cliff.
However, it appears that the title is causing a lot of discussions since many people find it difficult to understand why it is called that.
Nevertheless, the director and producer of "Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning" have provided some hints as to what the title of the movie could indicate about the plot.
Christopher McQuarrie said in a recent interview with Empire that the title is derived from a very specific connection that might have significant consequences for Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and the IMF.
McQuarrie said, "There are many things emerging from Ethan’s past."
"‘Dead reckoning’ is a navigational term. It means you’re picking a course based solely on your last known position, and that becomes quite the metaphor not only for Ethan but several characters," he added.
Part Two was initially supposed to shoot back-to-back, but owing to scheduling issues, it was ultimately temporarily postponed.
However, Part Two's filming didn't start until after Part One’s ending.
