New Jersey Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour fatally shot outside her home
New Jersey Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour has been reportedly found dead outside her home with multiple gunshot wounds, police have said.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office said that an emergency call was made around 7:22 pm on Wednesday evening (local time). As per reports, Dwumfour was found dead inside her car with multiple gunshot wounds. The prosecutor's office also said that it is an active and ongoing investigation while also urging the people to make calls to Detective Rebecca Morales of the Sayreville Police Department or Detective Michelle Coppola of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

New Jersey Mayor Victoria Kilpatrick decried the shooting as a “despicable criminal act”. Dwumfour’s killing was also confirmed by Detective Juan Rodriguez and Pastor Doctor Nelia Rodriguez on Facebook. The couple said on social media that they were “heartbroken” by the news and described the New Jersey councilwoman as a “woman of God”. Dwumfour was elected in 2021 to the Borough Council and her term was set to run until December 2024.
