According to NBC News, an investigation that was part of a broader inquiry into Donald Trump’s financial benefits during his Presidency highlighted the overcharging of Donald Trump’s Washington Hotel.
NBC News noted that the report from House Democrats allegedly claims that various ambassadors and individuals seeking jobs and pardons also paid a hefty amount to stay at the Trump International Hotel.

The report primarily focuses on a specific 11-month period which starts from September 2017 and goes up to August 2018 while revealing that Donald Trump’s hotel received $300,000 in payments during that time.
On November 28 in the year 2017, the Secret Service paid a whopping $600 for rooms for the agents who were protecting Donald Trump’s son at the hotel whereas other guests who were present that night paid significantly less, reported NBC News.
Democrats have given their argument that these practices genuinely violate the emoluments clause of the Constitution which prohibits the US President from profiting from foreign and domestic governments beyond their official salary. NBC News also asserted that the report had called for Congress to establish much clearer penalties for such violations which emphasizes the need for stronger anti-corruption measures.
