Doctors in the US are anticipating a Covid summer wave as the cases around the new variants like KP.2 and KP.3 are rising steadily in major US cities. According to US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there has been a surge in emergency room visits and positive tests for the coronavirus.

There are many symptoms around these new coronavirus variants that include sneezing, congestion, headaches, sore muscles, nausea or vomiting. However, there is no reliable evidence around the fact whether the symptoms of the new dominant variants are any different from other coronavirus strains, according to a Yahoo News report.

When can I get affected by the new Coronavirus strain?

If you are already vaccinated against coronavirus, then your body may see far less effect due to the developed immunity. However, you can even have worse symptoms and condition as sometimes, vaccination effects can wear off. In other instances, you may be drastically affected in case the new strain ends up being far more effective and breaches your immunity barriers.


Sometimes Coronavirus symptoms can resemble those caused by other infections or allergies and therefore, the primary task is to get tested and act upon it immediately, seeking medical care if a positive result comes in.

Coronavirus precautions and medications

The FDA has approved various kinds of drugs available in the market for combating Covid symptoms and effects that includes Pemgarda, a monoclonal antibody infusion. Pemgarda acts like a preventive measure against Covid and its related variants, and can be taken even before you come in contact with the virus.

Paxlovid stops the virus from replicating inside the human body and lowers the risk of death for people who have lower immunity and are vulnerable to coronavirus. Other options include antiviral treatments like remdesivir and Veklury.
