New bill to prevent election frauds in Georgia
Georgia has passed a new bill that is being mooted as sweeping. It gives powers for policing to the state bureau of investigations. It also puts a tight leash on nonprofit election funding.

The above changes have been taking place since Joe Biden took office. The aim is to rewrite election procedures, and the bill is now headed to the Georgia Senate. Allies of Donald Trump and the former President himself blamed his loss on false elections and election fraud. The activists for voting rights have frowned upon the new bill. The activists fear that if the state interferes in elections, election participation could chill down.
The Georgia House Republicans quickly moved to take forward the measure so that they could be on time before the internal deadline. The deadline day saw this measure as the last one to be debated and saw a sweeping 98-73 win in voting.
Florida and Georgia were two of the many states that brought about new voting restrictions in 2021. The win in the elections in Georgia in 2021 saw changes in voting, such as restricted use of ballot drop boxes, mailing cast ballots, also taking over of election boards by state.
Georgia lawmakers focus more on administration for elections than access to ballots. For example, one proposal is to start an elaborate chain of custody procedures and help in absentee ballot handling. Another proposal would see nonprofits not providing any funding to the administrators. They would have to seek permission from the State Election Board before providing any funding. It would then allow grants so that fraud is prevented.
Mark Zuckerberg and his wife donated a lot of money for elections in the pandemic and the Republicans have taken a dig at this.
