Netflix has announced the release date of its newest offering in anime, Skull Island. The series seems like an anime version of the 2017 film titled Kong: Skull Island. From the trailer of the Netflix version of Skull Island, we can spot King Kong but he is likely to be on the protagonist’s side this time rather than be the antagonist.

The plot of Skull Island

The new anime series will showcase explorers from a shipwreck who are stranded on a barren island – the ‘Skull Island’. The island is full of unusual creatures, and people who want them dead. The protagonist, Charlie, is in search of one of the explorers named Annie, who is kidnapped.

But there is more trouble ahead, as the explorers have to tackle sea creatures like the mighty Kraken. There is also the huge gorilla King Kong, who is friendlier this time and may help save Charlie and the other explorers.

Skull Island: Cast and Crew
Skull Island is created, written, and executive produced by Brian Duffield of Cocaine Bear (2023) fame, who also wrote the screenplay of Love and Monsters (2020).

Skull Island casts renowned voice actors such as Nicolas Cantu (as the protagonist Charlie) and Mae Whitman (Annie). The other voice actors are Darren Barnett as Mike, Betty Gilpin as Irene, Phil LeMarr as Sam, and Benjamin Bratt as Cap.

Skull Island will be available in both Japanese and English voiceovers on Netflix.
