Liked the South Korean drama 'Squid Game'? But what if the game existed in real life, would you be interested to participate? Well, here's the big update: Netflix is expanding the 'Squid Game' world by adapting it into a reality competition series called 'Squid Game: The Challenge'.

Wait a minute! Don't start sweating already. This reality game, which will see 456 real players fighting it out in front of the cameras, isn't actually deadly. In fact, it's scary at all. Unlike its original show which was written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, where players play a series of Korean children's games with a fatal twist, the reality show will not have any serious consequences.

Just like the actual show, where the last surviving participant is promised a cash prize of 45.6 billion won. In the reality show, the winner will receive a life-changing reward of $4.56 million.

Players competing in the reality show will need to clear a series of games which are inspired by the original series 'Squid Game'. Netflix revealed that there will also be new additional hurdles and games in the reality show which will test participants' strategies, alliances and character, which will be put to the test as competitors are eliminated from each round.

So, does the reality show interest you? If not the show, we are sure the reward of $4.56 million will grab your attention. But not everyone can enter the game! In order for a participant to be eligible for the reality show - 'Squid Game: The Challenge' - one needs to be at least 21 years old and must speak English. The participant must also be available for up to 4 weeks in early 2023 so that they can film the reality show.

Netflix made the announcement about the show turning into a reality competition - 'Squid Game: The Challenge' on Wednesday. The show will run for 10 episodes. Earlier this week, the OTT platform had announced that it was renewing the popular South Korean drama for a second season.

The South Korean drama tells the story of a debt-ridden people who compete in a deadly series of children's games to win the huge cash prize.

Right after its launch, 'Squid Game' received a warm reaction from the fans across the world and was streamed by 111 million users in its first 28 days of release itself. The thriller series currently holds the record as Netflix's most popular series of all time.
