Netflix's 'Day Shift' Review: Jamie Foxx, Dave Franco starrer action comedy fails to impress. Here's why
'Day Shift', a vampire action flick on Netflix starring Jamie Foxx, Dave Franco and Snoop Dogg, has been released. Is it a thumbs up or a thumbs down? Check out the review of the film.

This Netflix original was directed by debutante JJ Perry and co-produced by Chad Stahelski (director of John Wick movies) and appears to be a throwback to the 90s action films. Perry brings his expertise in action and vampire know-how to his direction and his fondness for storytelling is evident right from the first scene of the movie.

'Day Shift' begins with Jamie Foxx blasting an old woman with a shotgun. The lady is a vampire, and she pulls herself up from the ground and shows her vampiric colours. What follows is an incredible fight scene with the slickest moves seen in recent times. In scenes that follow, we get to see Jamie raiding vampire homes. The vampire hunters are seen using wooden bullets, garlic grenades and silver blades. Amazing action sequences where bodies twist in the most unimaginable ways. Unfortunately, the magic of action does not return in the rest of the movie, which is a disappointment.
However, Jamie Foxx's comedy is the entertaining part of the film. The movie also features a memorable cameo by Snoop Dogg.
Despite the gruesome action and witty comedy, the movie seems to lose track of what it was conceptualised as originally and comes forth as something else. It has been written by Shay Hatten, who has three Zack Snyder movies to his credit along with a few projects of the John Wick series.
