Netflix to continue streaming Kanye West documentary Jeen-Yuhs despite outcry over anti-Semitism, say reports

In light of the ongoing anti-semitism controversy surrounding the rapper, Netflix has reportedly said it has no intentions to take the latest Kanye West documentary Jeen-Yuhs down.

West's antisemitic remarks on social media and in interviews have caused a number of businesses to dissociate themselves from him, including fashion label Balenciaga, talent agency CAA, and Vogue magazine.

Jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy, a three-part documentary by Coodie & Chike chronicling West's life, was released earlier this year.


Netflix claims that because West was only the premise of the documentary and not engaged in its production or marketing, the firm is "not in business" with him. The documentary does not contain antisemitic material.



It is also noted that the choice is consistent with Netflix's prior policy on controversial figures in entertainment.

Demands to remove contentious standup specials from comedians like Jimmy Carr and Dave Chappelle have previously been made against Netflix. In neither case did the streamer take down the infringing content.

Celebrities such as Banks, Eric Andre, and Florence Pugh have recently spoken out against West.

West's personal life and career were highlighted in "Jeen-Yuhs," released earlier this year.

Representatives for Netflix also pointed out that even after other prominent performers got into trouble, they didn't have their movies pulled.

Celebrities have urged Adidas to sever relations with the "Heartless" rapper as a number of his other collaborators, including Balenciaga, Vogue, and his legal team, have done.
