NBC has decided to extend its freshman comedy series Happy’s Place, starring Reba McEntire, with a full-season order. The decision follows the show’s positive reception and strong viewership metrics.

Episode Count

NBC has ordered five more episodes of Happy’s Place. This brings the total number of episodes in its first season to 18. The series premiered on October 18 in the Friday 8 p.m. slot. Since its debut, the series has accumulated 14 million viewers across all platforms.

Performance

The show has delivered a 90% increase in total viewers and an 88% rise in the key adults 18-49 demographic for its timeslot. NBC cited these improved metrics as a reason for the additional episode order.

Cast and Plot

Reba McEntire leads the cast, which includes Belissa Escobedo, Melissa Peterman, Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk and Rex Linn. The story revolves around McEntire’s character, Bobbie, who inherits her father’s tavern. She discovers she has a half-sister, Isabella, played by Escobedo, who becomes her unexpected business partner.

Production Team

Kevin Abbott co-created the series with Julie Abbott and serves as the writer and executive producer. Reba McEntire also serves as an executive producer alongside Michael Hanel, Mindy Schultheis, Matt Berry and Pamela Fryman. The series is produced by Universal Television.

Happy’s Place is among three shows launched by NBC this fall. The other two are the comedy St. Denis Medical and the medical drama Brilliant Minds, starring Zachary Quinto.
