National Signing Day 2023: College football’s early signing period begins

Christmas has come early for high schoolers looking to lock up sports-based scholarships as National Signing Day is back!

College football’s early signing period for 2023 begins this month on 21 and will last till next year February 23. While some recruits postpone their decision for the traditional February window, the early signing is where the real action lies.

More than 80% of FBS scholarship players are predicted to sign their National Letter of Intent. Dozens of commitments and flips are expected to be witnessed over the next three days.


College Football Recruiting: 2023 Early Signing Period Important Updates

Malachi Nelson, the nation’s number one quarterback, has joined USC. Malachi was the top-ranked recruit in the country and the Trojans welcomed him home.


Deion Sanders got his first big name from this recruiting cycle in Dyland Edwards. Colorado welcomes the ESPN 300’s 156th rank, who originally hails from Kansas.

Michigan has not only won the transfer portal by landing several contributors for the following year but they are also winning on the recruiting cycle as well. Jim Harbaugh landed Karmello English, 82nd ranked wide receiver. Michigan also scored the 21st rank in the class rankings.

Although a lot of talent still remains unsigned, the biggest catch of the 2023 class kept things simple. Archie Manning, the next generation of the Manning quarterback dynasty, committed himself to the Longhorns last summer via his Twitter account. He closed his recruitment after signing with Texas on Monday.

Cormani McClain, however, will not sign his national letter of intent on Wednesday as reported by his mother. He has provided no updates about the early period or February.

Interestingly, the first big flip of the day comes from Austin Novosad, who previously committed to Baylor has now turned towards Oregon. The Ducks scored themselves a quarterback after they lost a pledge just two days ago from Dante Moore, who is now headed to UCLA.
