NASA's Webb Space Telescope captures Question mark-shaped cosmic body, baffles scientists

Do you know that our own galaxy Milky Way will collide with Andromeda galaxy some four billion years from now? Read in detail what experts have to say about such a phenomenon captured by NASA’s Webb Space Telescope.

A question mark-shaped glowing cosmic body photographed by NASA’s James Webb Telescope has baffled cosmologists and scientists. Some scientists believe that it is pair of young stars that are newly- born and they are still orbiting each other.

Question Mark-shaped Cosmic Body

The experts are of the opinion that it is situated in the Vela constellation of the Milky Way galaxy and is located about 1,470 light years away from the Earth. This cosmic body has simply photobombed the images taken by the Webb Space Telescope. It appeared in the background of other images but threw many challenges to cosmologists.

Some other scientists have ruled out it being a star. They point out that if one looks closely at the question mark-shaped cosmic body, one can find six to eight prongs, and it makes it clear that it is not a star.

Cosmic Body: Merger of Galaxies?

Christopher Britt of the Space Telescope Science Institute told CNN that it appears to be the merger of two galaxies and it may be located billions of light years away from the Earth. It is far away compared to the Herbig-Haro 46/47.

Britt said further that there are many galaxies away from our Milky Way and as the galaxies grow and evolve over cosmic time, they may collide with the neighboring galaxy.

Earlier too, the galaxies have merged forming a question mark-shaped cosmic body as it happened with the Antennae Galaxies in the Corvus constellation. Britt also said our own galaxy Milky Way will collide with Andromeda galaxy some four billion years from now.
