Naomi Judd died of self-inflicted firearm wound, says daughter Ashley

American music icon, winner of 5 Grammy awards and 9 Country Music Association awards, Naomi Judd passed away on 30th April 2022. On Thursday, Naomi Judd's daughter, Ashley Judd, disclosed the actual cause of her death – a self-inflicted firearm wound.

It has been difficult for the Judd family to cope with her death in these weeks. Ashley also said that it has been very difficult for them to digest and share that her mother used a firearm. The reason behind this was that she was suffering from depression.

People have seen and heard of her suffering and even helped her walk back home. Despite making her way into the Country Music Hall of Fame, it was becoming merely impossible to cope with her illness. Even though her peers took her in, she couldn't last there till the end.


On the day of her death, Ashley visited her home and her mother, just as she does whenever she is in Tennessee. Her mother asked her if she would stay with her, and when she went upstairs to meet her, she found her corpse.

The next day, a musical duo composed by Naomi Judd and her daughter Wynonna Judd was played in the Country Music Hall of Fame as a tribute. She was loved by her family and fans, who are still grief-struck and traumatised by her death.

A self-inflicted firearm wound may have led to her death, but in the true sense, Naomi Judd's death cause happens to be depression. Her daughters have taken the initiative to encourage fans to reach out to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline for those who are suffering and need help.
