Recordings related to the attack on Paul Pelosi, United States Representative Nancy Pelosi's husband, was released by San Francisco Superior Court on Friday.

The attack on the American businessman occurred last year. This comes as a court in California ruled the office of district attorney must make the materials public.

Body-cam footage

In the body-cam footage released, officers can be seen arriving at Pelosi’s home when he was attacked on October 28, 2022. In it, the moment where alleged assailant David DePape attacked former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband with the help of a hammer is visible.


The clip shows both, DePape and Paul Pelosi, have a hand on the hammer. DePape is also seen holding one arm of Pelosi when the officers opened the door.

The police officer said, “Drop the hammer” but DePape said, “Uh, nope.”

Then, DePape grabs the hammer from Pelosi’s hand and hits him. Police officials then rush into the home to subdue DePape and handcuff him.

Other recordings

Apart from this body-cam footage, other recordings include home surveillance video, the 911 call made by Paul Pelosi when DePape was in the home and the audio from police interviews with DePape, as per the court.

DePape was also found to be breaking into the Pelosi home in the surveillance footage. A US Capitol Police security camera installed at the San Francisco residence of Pelosi captured the scene.

In audio of the 911 call, Pelosi can be heard trying to tell the dispatcher that he was in danger as DePape listens to the call, which seems to have been made when Pelosi went into his bathroom, where he had placed his cell phone for charging. This call is around 2 minutes and 56 seconds long.
