Nancy Guthrie case: Man on camera may have had inside help — here’s why
Nancy Guthrie case: The disappearance of Nancy Guthrie continues to raise troubling questions, with new theories pointing to the possibility that more than one person may have been involved. Investigators and neighbors are now closely examining small but significant details from the night the 84-year-old vanished.

At the center of the mystery is doorbell camera footage, and what one neighbor believes it may reveal about how the crime unfolded.

Why is the front door not the likely entry point?

Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie, has been missing since February 1. Authorities believe she was taken from her Tucson home after signs of a violent struggle were discovered near the front door.

However, one detail has drawn attention. According to a neighbor identified as Laura, the home’s front entrance is protected by a large metal security gate, as per a report by The Mirror.

She told reporter Brian Entin that she does not believe the suspect seen in doorbell camera footage was attempting to enter through the front.

The footage shows a masked individual holding a gun near the door, but the gate, if locked, would have made forced entry extremely difficult.

Could someone have been inside the house already?

Due to that security barrier, the neighbor has raised the possibility that the suspect outside may not have been acting alone.

She suggested that entry may have happened another way — or that someone was already inside.

“They didn't gain entry through the front door because of that security gate,” she explained, adding that "there may have been someone inside the house already that was about to take Nancy out, like an accomplice."

Laura further described a scenario where the person outside could have been waiting, as per a report by The Mirror.

"He's at the front door waiting for that person to open the door so that he can assist when bringing Nancy out."

What does the evidence at the scene suggest?

The theory aligns with observations from former FBI agent Maureen O'Connell, who also spoke to Brian Entin during his reporting.

O’Connell said she does not believe Nancy left her home on her own.

“I don't believe she walked out. I believe she was carried out by two people,” she said, referencing the physical evidence found at the scene.

Investigators had previously confirmed that blood belonging to Nancy was discovered near the front door, reinforcing the belief that a struggle took place.

O’Connell pointed to the pattern of the blood as part of her reasoning.

"It's almost like two guys carried her and her head tilted in some way shape or form and it just came out right there. Maybe she coughed a little bit or something, because it does look like that one large circle has some aspiration in there. So that's what I think."

As the investigation continues, authorities have also reviewed nearby surveillance footage, including recordings from January 11 and January 24, though the significance of those dates has not been explained.

The case has drawn wider attention as it shares similarities with another disappearance involving an Air Force general, as per a report by The Mirror.

The unanswered questions remain, and the possibility that the suspect on camera may not have been alone is adding a new layer of concern to an already unsettling case.
