Washington outscored Chicago 24-12 in the third quarter - highlighted by Sykes scoring 20 of her points in just the second half - and went on to outpace them 23-16 in the fourth.
Sykes, who entered the night averaging 19.4 points per game - among the WNBA’s leaders - fired on all cylinders, scoring 32 points on 13-of-24 shooting, including 4-of-5 from three-point range.
After trailing 32-44 in the first half, Washington stormed back with a 47-28 second-half performance.
Kamilla Cardoso tallied 18 points and Angel Reese added 17, with both grabbing 10 rebounds for the Sky (3-8), who shot 49.2 percent but were undone by 25 turnovers.
Sky trimmed the lead to 63-62, but Sykes responded with a clutch three-pointer and later converted a three-point play after drawing a foul on Reese, extending the lead to 74-70.
Sykes also grabbed a key offensive rebound in traffic that led to a basket by Kiki Iriafen, sealing the victory.
