Morgan Geyser, who stabbed a classmate to please ‘Slender Man,’ goes missing in Wisconsin after cutting off her monitoring bracelet and leaving her group home; what do we know so far as probe continues
A young woman, Morgan Geyer, who was involved in the 2014 'Slender Man' stabbing incident, is now missing. Geyer had been released from a psychiatric hospital earlier this year. She reportedly cut off her monitoring bracelet and left a group home....

According to CNN and CBS News, Geyser was last seen in the area of Kroncke Dr. on the west side of Madison around 8 PM on Saturday with an adult acquaintance, police and city officials said. Her whereabouts are unknown as of Sunday morning. Amid the investigation into the matter, police released a recent image of Geyer that was captured on security video.
Geyser was released from psychiatric hospital earlier in 2025
Geyser was released earlier this year from Winnebago Mental Health Institute, a psychiatric hospital where she had spent the last seven years, according to CBS News. She has been living in a group home, and she was released after three experts testified she had made progress battling mental illness.
The 2014 stabbing incident
In 2017, the attorney of Geyser, who told investigators she helped stab a classmate, was convinced the crime would protect her and her family from a horror character called Slender Man, who she thought was real, according to AP.
They told investigators they attacked Leutner to earn the right to be Slender Man's servants and feared he would hurt their families if they didn't follow through. They had planned to walk to Slender Man's mansion in northern Wisconsin after the attack, they said.
Geyser pleaded guilty
Geyser pleaded guilty for trying to help a party in attempted first-degree intentional homicide in 2017. She, however, claimed that she was not responsible because she was mentally ill. In 2018, Waukesha County Circuit Judge Michael Bohren had committed her to a psychiatric hospital for 40 years.
Weier pleaded guilty to being a party to attempted second-degree intentional homicide with a dangerous weapon in 2017. Similar to Geyser, she also claimed that she was mentally ill and not responsible for her actions. According to CBS News, she was committed to 25 years in a mental hospital but was granted release in 2021. She was released on the condition that she would live with her father and wear a GPS monitor.
