To change one’s life does not necessarily require one huge step to be taken. Sometimes, a person needs to make small decisions on a daily basis to transform their life. This was part of the core beliefs of Jim Rohn. According to him, an individual’s life could be changed through the formation of good habits, the acquiring of knowledge and taking responsibility for his actions. Emanuel James Rohn, popularly known as Jim Rohn, was born in 1930 in Yakima, Washington. He received his primary education in Idaho and went ahead to become a business man, author, and motivational speaker. He offered his audience valuable lessons regarding goal setting, discipline, finance, and learning.
Another factor behind the popularity of Rohn’s philosophies is their simplicity. Rohn never portrayed success as something which could happen overnight. Rather, he talked about little decisions one could make which would slowly start making a difference in one’s life. Rohn's message usually revolved around the notion that one should not just sit back and hope for their luck to change. They should start changing themselves by developing new skills, knowledge, and attitudes. The message appears to be even more appropriate at times when one feels like their life has stopped. It may not always be possible to change one’s circumstances, but it’s definitely possible to change one’s attitude towards them.
Personal development was the most fundamental concept in Rohn’s teachings. Rohn viewed developing into a better version of yourself as being more beneficial than trying to gain wealth and power. According to him, education did not end at school. Reading, listening, reflection and acquiring new skills were part of lifelong learning. Rohn also always stressed the impact that our environment had on us. Our interactions with others may influence the way we think, the habits that we have and our goals, which is why we should surround ourselves with those who inspire us to grow.
