Moderna seeks FDA approvals for its vaccine for kids under 6
Now that kids under 6 are the only strata of population that still does not have a vaccine, this move by Moderna might just be the final piece of the puzzle.

"In our continued fight against COVID-19, this vaccine will be especially welcomed by parents and caregivers" says Stephane Bancel, the CEO of Moderna, in one of the statements as mentioned in NDTV.
The well-acclaimed firm that has been the only player so far providing vaccines to kids aged from 6 years to 11 years now believes that the two doses of their new vaccine for the remaining fraction of the population that is unprotected so far show the same results of developing antibodies as seen in the adults.
The data of efficiency provided by Moderna has increased slightly as compared to their report presented in March. Earlier the reports proved the efficacy to be 43.7% effective for children from 6 months to 2 years, and 37.5% for children from 2 to 6 years. Now the numbers have taken a jump to 51% roughly for both the groups. The results provided were achieved from the tests performed on the virus of the Omicron wave. This test was conducted safely on 4200 children aged from 2 to 6 years and 2500 children from 6 months to 2 years, giving the results as stated above.
Although, the above age group even without a single dose of vaccination have been the least affected with reported deaths of 476 children in the US. The scientists are seeking extra caution to prevent any further complications from the effects of the vaccine, understanding the delicate development of the body.
This pioneer vaccine for toddlers seems to be a promising innovation by Moderna. The firm believes that in the coming week, they should have the approvals from FDA and European Medical Association (EMA).
