Modern Family star Sofia Vergara demands $5 million in damages over Beverly Hills Mansion renovations

Sofia Vergara, the 51-year-old actress, is entangled in a legal clash with Reside Custom Homes, the contracting company responsible for renovations on her Beverly Hills mansion. This tussle escalated as Reside Custom Homes sued Vergara for a staggering $1.7 million, citing disputes over payments and additional renovation costs. According to Vergara's lawyer, Marty Singer, her claims against the contractor preceded this lawsuit, citing overcharging, substandard work, and significant delays, seeking damages exceeding $5 million.

The legal battle arose from renovations initiated in April 2022, as detailed in court documents obtained by Fox News Digital. Reside Custom Homes claimed substantial completion of work by December 2022, followed by additional renovations commissioned by Vergara. However, completion of these extra tasks took an additional three months, leading to financial disputes between Vergara and the contractor.

Allegations arose regarding Vergara's failure to reimburse the contractor for the additional work, despite purported agreements to repay the expenses. The lawsuit claims that Vergara informed the contracting company about approving a $900,000 invoice and notifying her money manager for payment. Nonetheless, the alleged outstanding amount stands at $1,700,492.64, leading Reside Custom Homes to take legal action against Vergara.


In response, Stephen E. Foster, a lawyer representing the contractor, emphasized their pursuit for payment, highlighting the absence of formal complaints from Vergara regarding the quality of work or specific charges. Foster dismissed Vergara's accusations as baseless threats and expressed the contractor's confidence in prevailing on the merits in an impartial tribunal.

This legal turmoil surfaces amidst Vergara's prior listing of the Beverly Hills estate for $18 million in June 2023. The property, boasting a sprawling 12,000 square feet, features seven ensuite bedrooms and three powder rooms. Situated at the nexus of Beverly Hills and West Hollywood, the gated estate offers proximity to renowned establishments like The Beverly Hills Hotel, notwithstanding its prior listing at nearly $20 million in July 2022.

Formerly shared with her estranged husband, Joe Manganiello, Vergara's mansion stands as a subject of contention, marred by legal strife surrounding the renovations undertaken and the financial obligations yet to be settled.
