Mississippi mother arrested after child seen wearing diaper at Walmart amid winter

A woman in Mississippi was arrested after her child was allegedly seen wearing only a diaper at Walmart store amidst frigid weather, as per reports.

The incident occurred at a Walmart at approximately 10:30 am on January 17, following an incident where an employee captured a video of the child inside the store, clad only in a diaper, USA Today reported.

On that particular day, the temperature stood at 20 degrees Fahrenheit, accompanied by even colder wind chills.


Felicia Darling, the employee responsible for capturing the video, shared with WJTV that she faced termination from her position after posting the video.

Two people were taken into custody as part of an investigation into the abandonment of a newborn girl who was found last week behind dumpsters in Mississippi, authorities said.

The two people were arrested Friday, the Marshall County Sheriff's Office said on social media, without providing further details.

The newborn was found bundled in several blankets in a car seat Wednesday behind dumpsters at the Grove of Cayce mobile home park, near the Tennessee border, the sheriff's office said.

The baby was taken to a hospital and was in good condition, authorities said Friday.

The mobile home park is about 35 miles (56 kilometers) southeast of Memphis.
