Mission: Impossible 8 - Video reveals Tom Cruise’s heart-stopping aerial stunt on an upside-down plane
Renowned for his daring stunts, Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise is back in action, pushing the boundaries of risk and adrenaline in Mission: Impossible 8. Recent images from the filming set reveal Cruise engaging in a heart-stopping aerial stunt, hanging from an upside-down plane without a visible parachute.

This latest death-defying scene underscores Cruise's commitment to performing his own stunts, continuing the legacy of high-octane action that defines the Mission: Impossible franchise.

New Stunt Details Revealed

In newly released images, Tom Cruise can be seen clinging to a small biplane as it flips upside down, leaving the actor suspended mid-air. The stunt, filmed in Oxfordshire, England, also features Cruise's co-star Esai Morales, who reprises his role as the antagonist Gabriel from Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning.

A second pilot, dressed in a green screen suit, suggests that he will be digitally removed, making it appear as though Cruise is grappling alone in the perilous scene.

"When the plane flips upside down, Cruise - who did not appear to be wearing a parachute - is left hanging off it," a source reported via The Mirror.

"The characters appeared to be filming a fight scene where they grapple with one another before the plane turns upside down. The pilot was dressed all in green, suggesting he will be removed from the scene and Cruise and Morales will be the only ones in the plane”, as quoted in a report by Movieweb.

Continuation of High Stakes Action

Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning was released in July last year and saw Tom Cruise return as Ethan Hunt, tasked with saving the world from a rogue AI known as “The Entity.” As the series progresses, Mission: Impossible 8 is expected to continue this high-stakes narrative, further delving into the challenges posed by this formidable antagonist.

The official synopsis for Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning sets the stage for the intense action: “Ethan Hunt and his IMF team embark on their most dangerous mission yet: to track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity before it falls into the wrong hands. With the fate of the world at stake, a deadly race around the globe begins. Confronted by a mysterious, all-powerful enemy, Ethan is forced to consider that nothing can matter more than his mission – not even the lives of those he cares about most”, as quoted in a report by Movieweb.

The ensemble cast includes Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Henry Czerny, Vanessa Kirby, Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, and Shea Whigham, among others.

Mission: Impossible 8 has faced multiple delays, initially slated for release on August 5, 2022. It is now scheduled to hit theaters in the United States on May 23, 2025. Despite these setbacks, anticipation remains high, with fans eagerly awaiting the next installment of Ethan Hunt's thrilling adventures.
