For the first time ever, Palestine will be represented at the global Miss Universe pageant by beauty queen Nadeen Ayoub. This landmark moment marks a significant milestone in international recognition of Palestine and unfolds amid ongoing global attention on the region.

Nadeen Ayoub, 27, was crowned the inaugural Miss Universe Palestine recently, making history by becoming the first Palestinian woman to compete in this prestigious international competition. The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) confirmed her participation in the 74th Miss Universe pageant scheduled for November 21, 2025, in Bangkok, Thailand, where she will compete alongside contestants from over 130 nations.

The MUO emphasized its pride in welcoming Ayoub, calling her “a distinguished advocate and model hailing from Palestine” who exemplifies the organization’s mission of diversity, cultural exchange, and women’s empowerment.

In a heartfelt message on Instagram, she shared, “For the first time, Palestine will be represented at Miss Universe. I carry the voice of a people who refuse to be silenced... We are more than our suffering—we are resilience, hope, and the heartbeat of a homeland that persists through us.”

Personal and professional background

Nadeen’s journey is remarkable. She was crowned Miss Palestine in 2022 and that same year competed in Miss Earth, where she was a top-five finalist—the first from her country to reach that level. Originally from Ramallah, she also spends time between Dubai and Amman. With a degree in literature and psychology, she is a certified wellness and nutrition coach and founded Olive Green Academy, which promotes sustainability.

Beyond pageantry, Ayoub works with Sayidat Falasteen, a philanthropic initiative aimed at empowering Palestinian women by sharing their stories and elevating their contributions both locally and in the diaspora.

The path to Miss Universe has been challenging. Due to the prolonged conflict in Gaza and wider Palestine, previous plans for participation were postponed as Ayoub prioritized raising awareness of the humanitarian crisis over competing. The decision to officially include a Palestinian contestant is symbolic amid a tense geopolitical backdrop. Since the outbreak of conflict in Gaza in October 2023, more than 62,000 people have died according to the Palestinian Health Ministry, including many women and children. Increasing international recognition of Palestinian statehood has followed, with over 145 countries endorsing such recognition.
