Miss Jamaica Gabrielle Henry, 28, is hospitalized in Bangkok, three days after a dramatic fall off the stage during the preliminary evening gown round at Miss Universe 2025 on November 19.

While confidently walking the runway in a sparkling orange gown, she missed a step and tumbled face-first into the audience. Rushed to Paolo Rangsit Hospital, she was reported to have no life-threatening injuries but remains under observation as tests continue.

Henry, also an ophthalmologist and founder of the See Me Foundation supporting Jamaica’s visually impaired community, had been a strong contender in this year’s competition.

The Miss Universe Jamaica Organization confirmed via Instagram and statements to People that her family, including her sister Dr. Phylicia Henry-Samuels and mother Maureen Henry, are with her in Thailand, offering support.

Gabrielle Henry’s sister, Dr. Phylicia Henry-Samuels, shared that “Gabby isn’t doing as well as we would have hoped,” and due to the severity of her condition, medical personnel have determined that Henry must remain in the intensive care unit (ICU) for at least seven days, during which doctors will continue close monitoring and specialized treatment as she recovers from her fall.

The incident has ignited widespread concern and sparked conversations about stage safety, as well as sympathy from fans and fellow contestants. Raul Rocha, who is the owner of the Miss Universe pageant also visited her in the hospital and assured she was receiving excellent care and would remain under close monitoring.
