Minnesota Vikings release veteran Pro Bowl linebacker Eric Kendricks

On Monday, the Minnesota Vikings made a public statement that they have released Eric Kendricks, an experienced Pro Bowl linebacker in a salary cap move. Kevin O'Connell, the head coach, described Kendricks as a dependable member of the team who has played over 100 games in the NFL and has been a constant presence in the locker room.



Eric Kendricks, aged 31, has played his entire NFL career with the Vikings, who picked him in the second round of the 2015 draft. In the previous season, Kendricks played in all 17 games, starting each one of them, and topped the team with 137 tackles. He has achieved over 100 tackles in seven consecutive seasons.

Even though he is known as a talented linebacker throughout the league, Eric's contributions to the Vikings extend well beyond his on-field performance because of his altruistic and determined dedication to addressing societal issues.



With the termination of his contract, Eric Kendricks will now be able to join any team he chooses before the start of free agency on March 15.

By releasing Eric Kendricks, the Vikings will reduce their salary cap by $9.5 million. Prior to this move, they were reportedly over the salary cap by approximately $24.4 million as of Monday, based on OverTheCap.com's data. The Vikings have until March 15 at 4 p.m. to bring their total salaries under the salary cap limit of $224.8 million.
