Minnesota Vikings announced on Saturday that Bud Grant, the renowned coach who guided them to four Super Bowl appearances, had passed away at the age of 95. Grant's coaching career spanned 28 seasons, during which his teams made it to the playoffs 20 times, played in 10 championship games, and clinched four titles. Despite his success, none of his NFL championship victories came to fruition, as he was the first coach to suffer four Super Bowl losses.

Bud Grant holds the distinction of being the first individual to be enshrined in both the CFL Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. His regular-season record in the NFL was 158-96-5, while his CFL record was 102-56-2. He also had a combined postseason record of 26-20-1 across both leagues.

The Wilf family, who own the Minnesota Vikings, issued a statement recognizing Grant's significance to the team. They described him as a "once-in-a-lifetime man" who will forever be linked to the Vikings and associated with success, toughness, and the north.
Pro Football Hall of Fame President Jim Porter paid tribute to Grant's lasting connection to the Hall, noting that he remained involved well into his 90s. Porter also remarked on Grant's legendary status, determination, and love for his players and the game of football, which he expressed despite a sometimes-misunderstood stoicism.
