State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, have survived after they both were shot more than seven times each at their home in Champlin, Minnesota, on early Saturday morning, as per Yvette's message sent to US Senator Amy Klobuchar, reported Kare 11.

Minnesota Lawmakers Survive Targeted Shootings

Yvette told Klobuchar that, "John is enduring many surgeries right now and is closer every hour to being out of the woods. He took 9 bullet hits. I took 8 and we are both incredibly lucky to be alive. We are gutted and devastated by the loss of Melissa (Hortman) and Mark. We have no words. There is never a place for this kind of political hate, as shared by Klobuchar on social media platform X (previously Twitter).

Hoffman's nephew told Kare 11 that a bullet narrowly missed the senator's heart and shared that during the attack, Yvette threw herself on top of their daughter to shield her from the bullets, according to the report.
