Page Six reporting and newly surfaced photos

The images reportedly are from 2020, six years before Vrabel and Russini were captured holding hands, hugging and hanging poolside at a resort in Arizona.

As per Page Six, the recently surfaced pictures featured Vrabel and Russini seated closely together at a New York City bar. Vrabel was serving as head coach of the Tennessee Titans, while Russini was working for ESPN. The images allegedly showed Vrabel touching Russini’s arm and leaning toward her during the interaction.

Vrabel and Russini were at New York’s Tribeca Tavern for at least an hour in the early hours of March 11, 2020, according to Page Six, which also alleged that Vrabel was married at the time and Russini was almost six months away from getting engaged to her now-husband, Kevin Goldschmidt, a Shake Shack executive.

The report included claims that are attributed to a source citing the interaction, mentioning:

“They were kissing and they were all over each other,” Page Six source stated “He had a ring on.”

These remarks were published alongside previously released Arizona resort photographs that allegedly showed public affection between the two.

Initial statements from Vrabel and Russini

Both Vrabel and Russini previously issued statements included in Page Six’s April 7 coverage. Addressing the Arizona resort photos, Vrabel said:

“these photos show a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable” and “this doesn’t deserve any further response,” per Page Six.

Russini also provided a statement at that time but has not spoken publicly since leaving her role at The Athletic.

Vrabel’s public comments to reporters

Vrabel later addressed the concern in a press conference, citing it as a “personal and private matter.” He also explained that he had internal talks with his family and the organization.

He mentioned:

“I've had some difficult conversations with people that I care about, with my family, the organization, the coaches, the players,”

Vrabel added that these discussions were “positive and productive” and highlighted accountability and minimizing distractions within the team scneario.

Counseling announcement and NFL Draft absence

On Wednesday night, ESPN received a statement from Vrabel confirming he will be away from the team on Day 3 of the NFL Draft to start counseling.

Vrabel stated:

"As I said the other day, I promised my family, this organization and this team that I was going to give them the best version of me that I can possibly give them. In order to do so, I have committed to seeking counseling, starting this weekend,"

He further mentioned:

"This is something that I have given a lot of thought to and is something I would advise a player to do if I was counseling them.”

Vrabel also said:

“I have always wanted to lead by example, and I believe this is what I have to do to be the best husband, father and coach that I possibly can be. This is not an easy thing for me to admit, but it is one that I know will make me a better person. I appreciate the support that everyone has given me and promise a stronger resolve as a result."

Additional reports and claims

Later reporting from Page Six sparked further allegations regarding the 2020 encounter, which included claims that Vrabel and Russini were spotted in a more intimate scenario at a New York City bar. Reporter Teresa Roca wrote:

“Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini were ‘all over each other’ at a secluded bar in New York City — six years before they were caught holding hands and hugging at an Arizona resort,”

The outlet reiterated that the meeting happened at Tribeca Tavern on March 11, 2020.
