Mike Leech succumbs to heart condition, passes away at 61
Michael Charles Leach, aka Mike Leach, passed away at 61. He was suffering from a heart condition. He was hospitalised early in the morning and succumbed to death at night on Monday.

Mike Leach, multiple award winning American football coach has passed away on 12 December at the age of 61 years. The University, on Tuesday announced his death due to "a heart condition". He was born on 9 March 1961 at Susanville, California, United States and lived in Jackson, Mississippi. He was known for his Air Raid offence, which totally changed the game in the 2000s.
Leach was the head coach at Mississippi State University from 2020, until his death yesterday. The coach had served in many colleges until he joined Texas Tech in 2000. Texas Tech is known to have excelled their offences during Mike’s time as a coach there. However, from 2007-09, he was the centre of some controversies. Following which, he was fired from Texas Tech in 2009. After that he has had a dynamic career in football - from being a TV show host to being a writer.
Mike’s demise is saddening for American college football. "The life of Mike Leach touched thousands upon thousands of people through his coaching, leadership teaching and insightful commentary," SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said. Mississippi State University president Mark E. Keenum said, "Coach Mike Leach cast a tremendous shadow not just over Mississippi State University, but over the entire college football landscape."
