American filmmaker Mike Flanagan finally gets to work on his dream project, an adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘The Dark Tower’. Flanagan plans to make it into a five-season television show and two standalone features. He says he is ready with the pilot script and detailed outline for the first season.

They say that when you wish for something, universe conspires to get it. Ultimately, it did for the American filmmaker, Mike Flanagan. He is best known for his horror movies such as Absentia, Oculus and Ouija. However, his ultimate dream was to work on an adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘The Dark Tower’. It came true when he finally received a nod from the writer himself. He talks about making a 5-season television show of it, out of which the 1st season is all set to roll. He says he has been planning this series so long that every detail is etched in his brain.

He is known to be passionate about his projects and plans everything months ahead. For Gunslinger, he meticulously planned the first shot that comes from the book's first sentence. He says that he has plenty of ideas for The Dark Tower and finally gets the chance to get these ideas out of his mind and actualise.

He also adds that he is looking for other talented writers to join his team and provide fresh ideas. Other adaptations that Flanagan has worked on include Doctor Sleep and Gerald’s game.

Flanagan says it was challenging to get approval from Stephen King himself for the adaptation. However, the writer was impressed with the detailed outline that mentioned what the filmmaker planned to do with it.
