Midsummer Box Office hits $1.88 billion, 2 per cent decline from 2022

This summer birthed several movies – much-anticipated, low-scorer, highly-acclaimed, critic-favorite and nothing-but-a-disappointment. Let’s not name any movie, but audiences are the best judges and they know what’s right and not. The consumers.

Now, the reports have come out and it doesn’t show the box office in a good place, albeit, average which totals to over $1.88 million for May 1 to July 2. This figure, if compared to previous year’s, sadly, shows a downfall of 2 per cent and no surge. While 2 per cent may sound normal, the industry likes to see the chart moving and things are back to place, almost, after the pandemic and it will possibly get better next year and every year. Fingers crossed.
Comscore Senior Media Analyst is optimistic about August results saying it could be the “unexpected savior” and “It’s way too early to characterize the overall summer box office performance as a hit or a miss.”
