Microsoft launches early access version of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition on ChromeOS, Chromebooks

Early access version of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition has been launched on ChromeOS, Chromebooks by Microsoft.

Microsoft has launched early access version of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition on ChromeOS. While the video game can be played on Chromebooks due to Android-backed ChromeOS, Minecraft will allow cross-device play.

Earlier in 2020, Microsoft-owned developer of Minecraft Mojang launched Minecraft: Education Edition on Chromebooks. However, that version required Office 365 Education account.

However, the recently launched version is only restricted to Chromebooks with limited specifications.


Before the recent launch, Chromebook users were adopting ploys to run Minecraft on ChromeOS. They even settled for Minecraft: Education Edition.

The video game's Java version required Linux apps on Chromebook and ways to set up Minecraft albeit with the help of Chromebook.

The date for release of full version of Minecraft on Chromebooks has not been specified.
