Michigan State University shooting: 3 dead and 5 injured; suspect dies of ‘self-inflicted gunshot wound’
Police have confirmed that the suspect of the Michigan State University shooting died apparently from a “self-inflicted gunshot wound”.

Michigan State University (MSU) Police posted updates on social media regularly including the photos of the suspect who was described as a “black male, shorter in stature”. Later, the police also said that he was a 43-year-old man with no affiliation with the university. They said that the suspect was “located off campus”. In the images released by the police, the suspect can be seen wearing a denim jacket, a baseball cap and red trainers.

As per reports, the shooting at MSU started just after 8 pm (local time) on Monday. At the news briefing, the police said that the shootings took place at multiple locations and that the investigation was currently ongoing. However, the motive of the gunman remains unknown. Multiple ambulances were seen at the scene and some of the wounded are believed to be in life-threatening condition. The injured, as per the police are being treated in hospital.
In the aftermath of the shooting, all campus activities were scrapped for two days. The suspect’s death was reported by the police just four hours after the news of the shootings broke. The shootings took place at Berkey Hall, an academic building, MSU Union which is a hub to eat or study. Chris Rozman, interim deputy chief of the campus police department called it a “nightmare we’re living tonight”.
