Jennifer Flewellen shocked everyone including doctors and medical experts when she woke up from a five-year coma. The 41-year-old mother of three from Michigan suffered catastrophic injuries in September 2017 when her car swerved across a roadway and struck a utility pole. She remained in a coma for 4 years and 11 months. When Jennifer Flewellen recovered extraordinarily, doctors called her a "living miracle."

"Living Miracle"

When the mother of three appeared on the sidelines of a high school football match during its senior night game on October 20, she was the star of the game, not any athlete. Her mother, Peggy Means said, "We were told all along that she has anoxia and that the brain damage, she'll never wake up, but you never say never." She added that nobody expected her to wake up.

When Jennifer Flewellen returned to the field to cheer her son, she was welcomed as the community remembered her as a dedicated mom who was always the loudest cheerleader standing along the sidelines.

Star of football match

Peggy Means told the 'New York Post', "Everybody that knew Jenn, she was very loud. They (her kids) used to say, 'I couldn’t even hear my coach, Mom. You were louder than the coach'."

Flewellen missed her elder two sons’ senior night games during her five years in a coma but was eager to watch her youngest steal the show for his Niles High School team.

To mark the special occasion, Julian scored the game’s opening touchdown on his team’s home turf against the undefeated Paw Paw. He also scored another three touchdowns, leading his team to a 56-18 victory.

Friends in disbelief

Jennifer Flewellen's other friend Sara Macon said the community is "still in shock". She said, "Just having the opportunity to have her here to support him and letting everyone know that she is thriving and she’s continuing to get better."
