Isabella, the daughter of American TV personality Michael Strahan is diagnosed with a brain tumor. On Thursday on the Good Morning America show with host Robin Roberts., the father-daughter duo made the revelation about Isabella suffering from medulloblastoma.

The 19-year-old has said that she did not notice anything strange till possibly October 1, when she started falling sick due to nausea, headaches, and could not even walk straight. Gradually she feared waking up as she used to vomit.

Sophia, the twin sister of Isabella further motivated her to get treated and after an MRI, Isabella was diagnosed with a brain tumor in October.


On the day before the 19th birthday of Isabella, she went through surgery to remove the tumor, which was a little larger than a golf ball.

During her diagnosis, Isabella was on the West Coast, where she was beginning her undergraduate course at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, while her father Strahan who was a co-host at NFL Sunday and GMA was present in New York during that time.

Strahan mentioned how it was very hard to think that his daughter had to go through such a phase all by herself. Doctors have stated that he should not take a risk by putting her on a plane to get her to the East Coast or any other doctor, further giving the affirmation that they will get the tumor out as early as possible.

Medulloblastoma: What is it?

Medulloblastoma is a type of cancer that generally develops in the cerebellum, the back of the brain, which is responsible for motor skills and movement, as per the National Cancer Institute. This kind of cancer is most prevalent among children. The absence of Michael Strahan from the GMA happened when Isabella, his daughter was recuperating from the tumor surgery.
For three weeks, Strahan was not present in his capacity as a host between October end and November because of certain personal family obligations, as reported by a spokesperson from ABC.

The host who was previously a NFL player is the father of four children who are now adults. His children Michael Jr, 28, and Tanita, 31 are from his first wife Wanda Hutchins, and Sophia, Isabella are from his second wife, Jean Muggli. Isabella has gone through a radiation therapy on Wednesday and will be beginning chemotherapy in February.

Strahan shared how this time has taught him that possibly he is not as strong as he thinks himself to be and that he also understood that he needed support from people. Isabella has further said that she is grateful to just be walking around or seeing her friends because when one cannot do something in life, it affects them. Speaking about future, she said that she looks forward to getting back to college, moving back to California and just restarting her school experience, getting back to a routine that she enjoys.
